District Assistance & Intervention Team (DAIT) Pilot
This project component is a set of pilot districts in Program Improvement (PI) or districts at risk of PI. Pilot districts are working with an external DAIT to complete a comprehensive needs assessment, prioritize a set of high leverage actions to improve student achievement and provide support for implementation of district and school level changes.
A central premise of the DAIT initiative is that the district is the nexus for educational change both within the district office and in its schools, and that an external team can effectively work with district leadership to effect change. The district should provide the leadership, along with the fiscal, human and technical resources, to fully implement a solid instructional program for all students.
Regional Capacity Building (RCB)
This project component is a county-level capacity building initiative to support district improvement. Each of the eleven CCSESA regions has been funded to increase its support to districts and to develop and disseminate tools and processes to support district improvement, based in part on needs identified in the pilot districts.
The RCB component focuses on the technical assistance provided by county superintendents to support districts in their leadership role. Regional consortia of county offices work together to develop county and regional expertise to ensure that districts within their region have access to the necessary resources for district and school improvement.
