District Assistance & Intervention Team (DAIT) Symposium 2009

The District Assistance and Intervention Team (DAIT) Symposium is co-sponsored by the California Department of Education (CDE), California County Superintendents Educational Services Association (CCSESA), and the California Comprehensive Center (CA CC) at WestEd. The agenda will include general sessions on legislative and budgetary issues, DAIT roles and responsibilities in working with Local Educational Agencies (LEAs) in Program Improvement (PI) Year 3 Corrective Action, and lessons-learned from district and DAIT participants in the District Intervention and Capacity Building Initiative. Break-out sessions include an overview of revisions to state program self-assessment tools and critical issues in each of the seven DAIT areas: Governance, Alignment of Curriculum, Instruction, and Assessment to State Standards, Fiscal Operations, Parent and Community Involvement, Human Resources, Data Systems and Achievement Monitoring, and Professional Development. Special attention will be given to meeting the needs of English Learners and Students with Disabilities in the context of DAIT work and fostering positive relationships with district leaders and school communities.

Meeting space limits participation in this Symposium to no more than three individuals from each approved DAIT organization and 11 Title III “leads”.

Registration Fee

The registration fee for this DAIT Symposium is $175 per team member. Please be advised that there are NO refunds.

Please complete one registration form for each team member attending this event (up to three per organization).

On-site registration will NOT be available.

The DAIT Symposium will be held at the Sheraton Grand Hotel located at 1230 J Street, between 12th and 13th Streets, Sacramento, CA 95814; phone number is (916) 447-1700.

Hotel Overflow Option

Due to the large demand for this event we have set up overflow accommodations at “The Citizen Hotel” located approximately 3 blocks from the Sheraton Grand Sacramento. The deadline for making reservations at "The Citizen Hotel" has expired. We are currently holding a few more sleeping rooms under the DAIT Symposium. Parking

The Sheraton Grand Hotel has a parking garage located next door to the hotel itself. Fees are $13 for self-parking and $25 for valet parking including in and out access.

Airport Information & Shuttle Service

Plan to fly to the Sacramento International Airport. Airport transportation to the hotel is available via Super Shuttle for approximately $14.00 one-way, $13.00 each additional person one-way, and $26.00 round-trip. Please contact 1-800-258-3826 for details.
